No H8 Campaign

Since the passage of Proposition 8; the banning of same sex marriage in the state of California was passed in November last year, reknown photographer - Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley formed a silent protest in the form of a photo project -The No H8 Campaign. The photos feature subjects with their mouths covered in duct tape to symbolise voices being unheard and the words "No H8" painted on their cheek. Parshley and Bouska have released a series of PSA's and have compiled a collection to over a total of 700 photos which they hope to one day include in a billboard to drive further awareness.

The Bish Inititation

Adz and Ginni from The Hump Day Crew have yet to give their newest recruit, The Bish - a proper welcoming party.

So, in conjunction with the Gay May Special - they have decided to welcome The Bish into the team, to Joy 94.9 and the gay community by giving him tasks to complete over the next few weeks.

Task One: Choreograph a dance routine to the song "Single Ladies" by Beyonce.
As the gay community LOVE to dance, Adz and Ginni put The Bish's boogie to a test.

Has he passed? Judge for yourself.

It's Week Two of Gay May and the second installment of The Bish Initiation. Having no idea what was in store for him today, after last weeks impulse dance choreography, The Bish had his apprehensions.

Task Two: Keeping up appearances. Carly and Phillp from Joy Sponsor Zipt were called upon to give our Bish a lesson or twelve in grooming.
Check out the video.

Its the final week of The Hump Day Crew's Gay May and the final task for The Bish's Initiation.

Final Task: Attend a PFLAG meeting.

The Hump Day Crew talk to the current President of PFLAG Kerrie about the meeting, what exactly PFLAG is and how it has helped many people over the past 15 years.

Sharon Gless - Debbie from Queer As Folk

Two time Emmy award and Golden Globe award winning Sharon Gless stopped by to chat to Adz and Ginni from The Hump Day Crew. She is probably best known for her role as Sgt. Christine Cagney on the 1980's cop show Cagney and Lacey but we love her as Debbie Novotny from Queer As Folk.

Gless started out working as a secretary for advertising agencies and film companies before she designed to sign a contract with Universal in 1974.

We found out that she generally doesn't tend to wear blue to dinner parties and that she turns a fabulous 66 on Sunday. She took time out of a dinner party to come chat to Ginni and Adz - she was an absolute delight to chat to and she still is just as passionate about human rights (in particular gay rights and womens rights). It was an honor to chat to one of the greats in World Film and Television - we hope you enjoy her company as much as we did.

Scott Lowell - Ted from Queer As Folk

Move over K-Fed, Li-Lo and J-Lo, because we have some serious competition....make way for ScoLo! He goes by the name Scott Lowell, but we remember him most for playing the loveable character of Ted "Theodore" Schmidt on Queer As Folk.

Being a straight actor playing a gay role on the show has made him realise a few things. "I do apologise to any woman I've kissed and given razor burn to over the years. That's the hardest part of it. Needing a good moisturiser afterwards."

Originally from Chicago, Scott currently resides in Los Angeles and enjoys playing ping pong, the french horn and spending time with his dog.

Over the course of the 5 season series, Scott as an actor faced challenging storylines whilst playing Ted. One of them being the Crystal Meth storyline - which saw Scott go on a hellish diet and undergo changes to be true to the character. As a result, Lowell was a two time nominee at the Prism Awards; awards that honour the entertainment industry for the accurate depiction of social issues.

After Queer As Folk wrapped up, Scott continued his work in television and has made various appearances in Criminal Minds, To Live and Die i Dixie and American Dad.

Scott also reunited with QAF co-star Peter Paige in the movie Ping Pong Playa

Lowell has generously used his profile to draw awareness to civil rights and to push change to Californian adoption laws, being an adoptee himself. He chats to The Hump Day Crew about all his philanthropic work, playing Ted Schmidt, the impact Queer As Folk has had on his life and the life long friendships he has formed with the cast memebers.

The Hump Day Crew take over the Campervan for a Hot Summer with Rhys Bobridge

Rhys has come a long way in the last 12 months. This time last year he was auditioning for the Top 100 in TEN's 'So You Think You Can Dance'. In June this year Rhys was dancing on the show’s final for a television audience of 2 million people. Rhys made a spectacular impact on fans of the show; he was colorful, charismatic and charming - the stand-out star of the series. Rhys has spent the last six months fulfilling his life long dream of recording an album. He has teamed up with the boys from Van She Tech - the Sydney production team behind the summer remix smash ‘Something Good 08' - to create a popular hit with a credible dance edge.

Introducing ‘Hot Summer’ - Rhys’ debut single, and your soundtrack for 3 months of hot days and even hotter nights. Led by a thumping verse and wailing war-cries, eviscerated bass-lines soar into a sun drenched chorus. It’s white hot. Just ask Network TEN, who will be featuring ‘Hot Summer’ as their new national promotions hook from late November to February 09.

Absolute Kylie

A spectacular West Australian show that is known around the globe having recently toured China and Malaysia to sell out shows. Absolute Kylie’s (aka Sarah Harmony) rise to success (and uncanny resemblance to the real Kylie) has been featured in numerous international, national and local media articles and television shows; most recently she was seen on 'Australia's Got Talent' and given a big thumbs up and an advancement to the next round by someone who knows Kylie very well, Dannii Minogue! Dannii praised Sarah in both her physical resemblance to Kylie as well as her performance commenting “I have seen a lot of people impersonate my sister around the world... you look very similar to her, the costumes are fantastic….you’re a good showgirl and you put on a good show!”

David Paris on the Hump Day Crew

Today's show we paid tribute to our big gay neighbour Sydney so we decided to chat with one of Sydney's gay A-Listers. He describes himself as androgynous, eternally optimistic, passionate, crazy, overly tanned and hopefully fashionable. He is a model, and just as comfortable behind the camera, works in promotions, features on YouTube and in some other cameo film roles as well as hosted his own Sydney club show "Fashionisto" promoting various fashion labels……and one of Sydney’s finest socialites.
He is David Paris (pictured).

Vanessa Amorosi on the Hump Day Crew

It gave us great pleasure to speak with one of the great female voices of Australia. This young lady has THE POWER to make ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY SHINE and did so with her first album…became the first Australian female to reach #1 on the National ARIA chart with her debut album.

She’s been hiding for a little while and I thought she may be living in a TENT BY THE SEA or vanished in a puff off STEAM. But EVERYTIME I CLOSE MY EYES I knew she would GET HERE and TURN TO ME …BY MY SIDE

Now proving that she is PERFECT and that HEROS LIVE FOREVER she is back with a new album and I definitely recommend you HAVE A LOOK as it may just inspire you to do THE SIMPLE THINGS like come over to MY HOUSE and show A LITTLE LOVE and KISS YOUR MAMA

I best stop my rambling and just START IT...

Today Vanessa Amorosi had a chat to the Hump Day Crew. We asked her about the ARIAs, the army and checked to see how well she knew her back catalogue.
