Aunty Rachel Shelley

Season 2 of Showtime's hit series, "The L Word," introduced us the femme fatale, rich daughter of Peggy - Helena Peabody. Although we may not have warmed to her character when she first appeared (heaven forbid anyone that comes in between Bette and Tina) - by the conclusion of Season 6, Rachel Shelley's touch on the character made her a show favourite.

I found out she is quite good at accents, telling jokes and is not really a fan of reality shows.

Why do I call her "Aunty" Rachel Shelley - well click here and you'll find out!

Laurel Holloman - an artistic all rounder

We all experienced her extensive character growth of the trials and tribulations of the loveable Tina on The L Word - but just when we taught that Laurel Holloman couldn't be more talented - it seems she is quite an exceptional painter.
With a BA from the University of North Carolina, Laurel's painting talents took a backseat when her acting talents were discovered in the theatre production of "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter."
Recently, Laurel took a solid 4 months of acting to put all her focus into painting - which produced some amazing paintings which are available for purchase on her webiste - www.laurelhollomanstudio.net
Managing 2 kids and a heavy schedule, Laurel generously gave up her time to stop by The Hump Day Crew to chat to Ginni - download podcast here.

Jennifer Beals - "Garlic Bread is more appealing than Immortality"

If there was a Hump Day Crew Hitlist of celebrities most wanted to interview, it is without a doubt that Jennifer Beals would make the Top 10. And it's not just because she is still one of the sexiest women alive at the age of 46 and mother of one. With a career spanning over 50 individual films, Melbourne's JOY 94.9 love her from her role as Bette Porter on The L Word.

With the ground-breaking Shotime series wrapping up on our screens early last year, Beals has constructed a photographic journal at lwordbook.com which features scripts, memos and 400 unseen photos to encaptulate her experiences on the show. Reminsicing on her experiences on and off the screen, Beals tells Ginni and Adz from The Hump Day Crew about her experiences leading up to Laurel Holloman giving birth, which is also featured in the journal. Proceeds from the purchases of Beals' L Word Book will be donated to three charities - the Matthew Shepard Foundation, The Pablove Foundation and fellow cast member Mia Kirshner's I Live Here Projects.

She chats to The Hump Day Crew about her time on The L Word, her upcoming projects for 2010 and answers the age old question......"Would you consider being a vampire?" Download her podcast here.

Stay tuned to The Hump Day Crew on Twitter and Facebook to catch the date of Sarah Shahi's (Carmen from The L Word) guest appearance on the show.

Marlee Matlin - She'll Scream Now

Whether you know her as Jodi from The L Word, the youngest actress to ever win an Oscar for a leading role, or the author of her own autobiography - there is one thing blatantly clear about Marlee Matlin - not only is she one of the bravest actresses to set foot in Hollywood, but she is an inspiring individual, talent and mother.
Being one of Hollywood's most popular hearing impaired actress, it has seen Matlin go through many a battle to fight for the rights of the deaf community. After becoming the youngest actress to win an Oscar for a leading role at the tender age of 21, Matlin claims the journey since then, though challenging, has been a worthwhile one which has given her sound wisdom.

Recently, she appeared in the US series of Dancing With The Stars, and proved to audiences that there was much more to her than being a hearing impaired actress - who answered the age old question - so you think you can dance with a HELL YES!

Now, Matlin is a mother to four children and has just launched her autobiography, "I'll Scream Later," - which delves into some heartfelt stories of Matlin's battle in rehab, public relationships and childhood.

The great news for us Aussies is - she will be hitting our shores next year for The L Word Convention Down Under in Sydney.

It was not only an honour, but an absolute pleasure having Marlee and interpreter Jack Jason on The Hump Day Crew - we hope you find this as enjoyable and inspiring as we did.

The L Word Covention Down Under - Guest no.6 announced

The countdown is well under way to one of the hottest events to hit Australian Shores in 2009 - ladies and gentlemen, Lean in and be Lured to the Luscious Lady series that captured our hearts and Left us Laughing, Loving and Longing for more. In less that 130 days, The L Word Down Under convention is hitting Sydney from January 22 - 24, with United L Events CEO Carla exclusively announcing Guest No.6 to the Convention on The Hump Day Crew.

With great delight she annouced that Guest no.6 attending the convention in Sydney next year was a Hump Day Crew favourite - none other than the vivaciously talented Janina Gavankar. Gavankar, who played the sassy latino lady, Papi, in season 4, will be joining confirmed guests Laurel Holloman, Rose Rollins, Rachel Shelley, Leisha Hailey and Marlee Matlin in Australia next year.

The convention is hosted by comedian Poppy Chaplin (who will be joining The Hump Day Crew at the end of September) and features a plathorea of entertainment.

CEO of United L Events Carla, though remaining tight lipped about the prospect of more guests to come, could not help but slip in a few more clues. She confirmed that an all time L Word favourite will be attending the Convention next year and will confirm this later on in the year. To hear more clues - download the podcast of her time on The Hump Day Crew.

Liz Keener - Dawn Denbo from The L Word

Uh Oh - look out ladies and L word fans - it's Dawn Denbo...but without her lover Cindy. Although we were planning to go into this interview with padded gear, baseball bats and helmets just in case for self defence; we found that Liz Keener was nothing short of an absolute delight and sweetheart to interview, which affirms just how talented and convincing a performer she is.

Sister of Katherine Keener, the talent of acting is one thing that flows in the family veins. Currently working on an environmental show, "The Green Birds,"- which is directed by David Duchovony's brother - Danny, Keener takes a fun and innovative look on helping the environment. She also features in the latest spin on celebrity chef cooking - the webisode series - Dishin It Up hosted by comedian Erin Foley. Keener talks Erin through how to cook a mean Shrimp Stir Fry. Yum!

If you have a copy of Eminem's latest installment "Relapse,"and hear a familiar voice on the skits - Keener is the voice of Tonya which involves her getting duct taped at the end.

Liz chats to Ginni and The Bish from The Hump Day Crew about her work on The L Word, her current projects Dishin It Up and The Green Birds (director by David Duchovony).

Janina Gavankar - Papi from The L Word

Though we know her best as Papi from The L Word, Janina Gavankar is an all round talent.

She is of mixed Indian and Dutch decent and daughter of a "genius dude," - with her father inventing various machinery and gadgets. A trained pianist, vocalist and orechestral percussionist, Gavankar carries a major in Theatre Performance.

A self confessed geek and serial gamer, Gavankar is one of the leaders in the new generation of South East Asian actors. She has been paving the way so well that she was nominated for an Asian Excellence Award in 2008.

Recently, she hosted the ACME comedy show which is one of LA's First Rate Sketch Comedies.

After finishing up on S4 of The L Word, Gavankar collaborated with producer Deep - who started a musical avenue for artists called Indiaudio which showcases Indian artists outside the Bollywood genre. Teaming up with Pratichee Mohapatra and Navraaz, along came the single "Tell Me What."

She has two episodes airing later this month on Joss Whedon's Dollhouse and Benjamin Bratt's The Cleaner.

Janina joins Adz and Ginni from The Hump Day Crew and covers a plathorea of topics...which involve a hell of a lot of laughing. She is one funny, charismatic and entertaining lady! Also find out what she would do if she were a fish and how well she can change a washer on a tap.
